Playlists are integral to how I write.
Some writers hate the sound of music as they try to compose their thoughts, but that’s not how I roll. I will even sometimes play the same song over and over again for the creation of an entire chapter. For hours . . . I’m not kidding. It’s like a song gets stuck in my head and it becomes the soundtrack for that very specific scene. Forever. Once I’ve heard the right track it gets burned into my brain.
I have a tendency to err on the side of dark, atmospheric pieces with a heavy bass line. Call it the ex-goth in me. There are, of course, exceptions to this rule and you’ll find them spotted around any of the playlists you decide to listen to here. Either way, be forewarned that some pieces are probably not suitable for all ages, not that I suspect to find a bunch of ten year olds here, but you never know . . .
I’m always on the look out for great writing music. If you have anything you think I should have a listen to, email me.
