If in doubt, always check here first. This is the lowdown on the basics that will hopefully cover whatever question you need an answer to, but if not, you can always contact me via the contact form on this site. Yeah, I hate forms, too, but it helps me make sure that I don’t lose things because my people . . . I lose lots of things especially things like my brain so let’s launch into the nitty gritty, shall we?
1) Okay, where are these books in which you speaketh?
Perfect, super easy question! My books are available in print and ebook form on all major retailers including Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. You can find the buy links to my individual books in the Books section here.
2) Wait a minute! What do you mean you’re not in KU?
Yep. I want my books to be available to my entire tribe, and some of them don’t have access to Amazon, or find it easier to get my books on other platforms in the countries where they live. I’m a big believer in spreading the love so that’s what I’m doing. You never have to worry that I’m going to shut you guys out. I want everyone to be able to read my stories.
3) I keep hearing about these short stories you’ve written, but I can’t find them anywhere. What happened?
Aha! Yes, I do write short stories. In fact, I love writing them, and it’s a great way for me to try out an idea when I have a chance between deadlines BUT I’m very selective about who gets to see them since they generally don’t go through an editor — just a straight shot from my brain. The only way to get access to them is through my newsletter. If you want them, you have to subscribe with your email address here —> SUBSCRIBE
4) Really? You’re going to make me sign up to another newsletter?
I get it. There are only a few authors that I follow personally and I keep up with absolutely everything they do (*cough* Neil Gaiman, Garth Nix, and Robin Hobb *cough*) BUT LISTEN, I reward loyalty. That’s the kind of person I am. If you have my back, I have yours because at the end of the day, I’m able to do what I do because a small group of lovely, zany, and quite possibly bonkered individuals have decided that I’m a keeper. And because of their undying devotion, I let them into my life – all of it. That’s what my biweekly newsletter is. Those are my people. You can be one of my people, too.
5) Right. So where are my audio books? I want audiobooks and I want them now!
Audiobooks are on hold right now until The Shaded Veil series is done and ready to go. It’s likely that this will be the first series to go to audio. I know, I’m sorry, Shining Ones fans.
6) Why aren’t you coming to my area? I keep hearing that you’re at book shows, but you’re never at any of mine. What gives?
I try to do as many cons and book signings as I can each year, but some years, like this one, I have to cut back so I can finish books. That means I might not do as many shows as normal. The good news is that I’m always trying out new ones so if there a show you think I should be at drop me an email and I’ll look into. Right now, I mostly do East Coast shows especially ones where I don’t have to fly just to give you a head’s up. Most years you will see me at Mysticon, Roanoke Author Invasion, and DragonCon. Those are staples when I get invited.
7) Can I send you my book, screenplay, novella, short story, my grocery list, etc. for feedback?
Please don’t. It’s nothing personal. I’m not a creative writing teacher. I’m not even sure I’m qualified to critique my own work.
8) Why won’t you friend me on Facebook, Goodreads, LinkedIn, etc?
I don’t use many social media channels on a regular basis and some of them I stay away from entirely so there’d be no point. My personal Facebook page is generally for friends and family and for people I have met in real life, but you are more than welcome to like my author page or find me on Instagram where we can hang out and chat.
9) What’s your private policy? I mean I’ve read your “official” legaleeze, but give me your personal take on what happens to my data.
First off, if you haven’t read the official rules and regs for my website, I suggest you do that now by going HERE. That gives you the rundown. Please make sure you understand what it says. If in doubt, drop me a line and I will try to clarify anything that might be confusing.
My take is this: I take your privacy and my own very VERY seriously. I’m not interested in selling your information off to advertisers. I’m not interested in them being in my business. What I’m interested in is having a relationship WITH YOU MY READER, and in order to do that, I need to email you and sell you books and stuff. I can’t do that without some private data which you hand over to me. BUT I will never knowingly hand your email address off to someone who is going to spam you or profile you for marketing. I wouldn’t want someone to do that to me either. This is my tribe and what happens in my tribe stays here if I can help it.
